School Story

Was on 1940 basketball team that won the district and regional tournaments but lost the first game of the state tournament.

Helped compose fight song lyrics with Jay W. Spencer and others. Army Field Artillery song was basis. We changed "caissons go rolling along" to "Generals marching along" and "field artillery" to "field of victory". Basketball was the only sport played in Fayette County schools so we "threw the ball down the floor". Jay W. put it all together and submitted it to the decision makers and it became our fight song. The words have been changed since then to include the game of football.

Harold. Will you be at the 75th reunion? Do you know any one from class1940 who might be there? Do you know anything about McDaniel, Randolph, or Pennington.

Wendell Harris died last October. Ireland, Clark, Lander, Hockensmith are gone. Ken Bruce
