
Allene Bach Fletcher
September 26, 1932 - July 2, 2024
Lexington, Kentucky - Allene Bach Fletcher, age 91, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2024, surrounded by her family. Born in 1932 to Vernon T. and Rosa Mae Bach, Allene was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Vernon Bach, Elva Allen, Lorena Browning, and Jay Wallin.
A devoted wife of 69 years, Allene's husband Bill Fletcher joined her in heaven just 5 days after her passing. She is survived by her daughter Jennifer (Keith) Nagle of Middlesboro, Kentucky; son William F. Fletcher, Jr. of Lexington; brother David Bach and sister Linda Bach, both of Lexington; grandson Joe Franklin Nagle of Middlesboro, Kentucky, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Allene graduated from Lafayette High School and earned a B.A. in Education from the University of Kentucky in 1954, becoming the first in her family to do so. She taught second and third grades at Bryan Station Elementary School in Lexington. At UK, Allene was part of the Blue Marlins synchronized swimming team, represented Boyd Hall as May Queen candidate, and belonged to Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. Allene was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Married in 1955, Allene and Bill shared a rich life together, traveling to Europe with family and enjoying Sanibel Island, Florida, where Allene discovered her passion for seashell collecting. They were avid bridge players and gracious hosts to their large family and many friends.
Allene was a member of the Lexington Metropolitan Women's Club, volunteered as a Cub Scout Den Mother, and worked at Quilter's Square. A great cook and gifted creatively, Allene excelled in sewing, quilting, smocking, and embroidery. She was a giver, always making something for someone, whether it be her brother's favorite fudge at Christmas or work-of-art baby clothes. No one left her home empty handed.
Family was the cornerstone of Allene and Bill's lives, and they were deeply devoted to one another and their loved ones.
A joint memorial service for Allene and Bill will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home on Harrodsburg Road, Lexington, KY. Visitation: 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., followed by funeral services. A private family graveside service will follow.
