April 18, 1965 – March 28, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Amina Rishi, on March 28, 2025, in Lexington, Kentucky. Amina was born to Dr. M.L. Rishi and Claudine Rishi on April 18, 1965, in Ontario, Canada, and spent much of her life helping others and making meaningful connections with everyone she encountered.

Amina graduated from Lafayette High School in Lexington, Kentucky, before earning her bachelor’s degree and completing the Physician Assistant program at the University of Kentucky in 1990. She was a proud member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and went on to have a fulfilling career as a Physician Assistant (PA-C), where she cared for countless patients with unending compassion and dedication.

Amina’s life journey led her to Ft. Myers, Florida, where she spent many years savoring the ocean, diving, boating, and witnessing countless stunning sunsets. These sunlit and water-filled experiences brought her immense comfort and happiness. In 2023, she made the decision to return to Lexington to be closer to her family. It was there she spent her final days surrounded by loved ones after courageously battling cancer with grace and determination. Her resilience was an inspiration to those who had the privilege of witnessing her incredible fight.

She is survived by her beloved daughter and her life’s greatest accomplishment, Taylor Lahner, her younger brothers Jamile Rishi (Kim) and Omer Rishi (Anna), as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her deeply. Amina's warm heart, infectious smile, and unwavering strength left a lasting impact on all who knew her.

A visitation will be held on Friday, April 4th from 5pm to 8pm at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home on Harrodsburg Road in Lexington, KY. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, April 5th at 10am at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, followed by a burial at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens, also on Harrodsburg Road in Lexington, KY.

In lieu of flowers, please consider foliage arrangements that will be with the family for years to come. Donations can be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or Captains for Clean Water, three causes that were near and dear to Amina’s heart.

Amina will always be cherished for her radiant beauty, unwavering love for her daughter and family, and the profound joy she discovered through nature and adventure. Her legacy of compassion and strength will forever inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
