Mary Jo Parsons Browning, 83, passed away on November 17, 2021 at Ochsner Medical Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was born on March 5, 1938 in Lexington, Kentucky to George Frederick and Virginia Peel Parsons, Sr.

Jo grew up in Lexington, Kentucky and she graduated from Lafayette High School in Lexington, Kentucky in 1956. After high school she:

• Attended college at the University of Kentucky, in Lexington, Kentucky,

• Attended college at the University of Houston in Houston, Texas, and

• Began work as an accountant/controller/comptroller for many years until retirement.

Jo married Thomas Lester Browning in 1960 in Lexington, Kentucky. They later divorced in 1986. She enjoyed music, mostly classical, especially percussion. She loved driving in her red convertible and taking in the countryside.

Jo was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Peel Parsons and father, George F. Parsons, Sr.

Jo is survived by her former spouse, Thomas Lester Browning of Husser, Louisiana; her son, Thomas Dale (Margayle) Browning, Sr. of Iota, Louisiana and her daughter, Tamara Lynn (Rick) Banker of Prairieville, Louisiana; her sisters, Georgia Ann (Sam) Wooten of League City, Texas, Barbara Ellen (Harold) Aisley of Annapolis, Maryland and George F. (Kathleen) Parsons, Jr. of Warwick, Rhode Island; her grandchildren Thomas D. Browning, Jr., Kendall R. (Andrew) Ingram, Heather N. (Rodney) Garland, Louisiana and Austin W. Banker; her great-grandchildren Kirra R. Ingram and Andi E. Ingram; and her nephews, Kenneth Matthews, Thomas Collier and Rick (Tonya) Parsons.

A memorial service will be held at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy, Gonzales, LA, 70737 on December 4, 2021. The family will be greeting friends and relatives for the visitation at Ourso Funeral Home from 10 am – 11 am. The service will follow at 11 am.
