
Donald Carl Schwartz passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024 in New Port Richey, Florida.
Don was born in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin on November 5, 1932. He graduated from Lafayette High School in Lexington, Kentucky where he ran track and played football, earning a Kentucky All State Football player title. He then attended the University of Louisville where he played a year of football and where he met his first wife, Yvonne.
Don was called to serve in the Navy as a Naval Air Mechanic on the USS Aircraft Carrier. He was also a successful businessman. He owned Southern Rentals, Southern Storage, and a Rug Doctor Franchise. Don had many hobbies: golfing, traveling, wood carving, geocaching, and coloring mandalas. He loved spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Yvonne in 1996; parents, Harold and Hazel Schwartz; brothers, Dale, Bob, and Paul Schwartz; and stepson, Andrew Black.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Jeanne Schwartz; children, Debbie Pike (Mike), Theresa Lewis (Brian), and Greg Schwartz (Karen); stepson, Elliott Black (Anna); stepdaughter, Carrie Siewert (Richard); 16 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 from 3pm-7pm at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road, Louisville KY, 40291.
