Charles Gary "Charlie" Craft, Jr., 67, husband of Kay Conley Craft, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, in a tragic accident while doing what he loved, riding his Bergman motorcycle. He had gone just 1.6 miles from his home on Grimes Mill Road in Clark County when a deer ran in front of him, causing him to lose control and hit a tree. He had a big, caring heart, and was always willing to help others. He said he thought that was his purpose on earth. He loved life and he never looked back. Some of his passions were his family, music, watching drag racing, attending car shows, and car photography. He taught his loved ones so much, but not how to live without him.
Charlie was born in Richmond, Indiana, on December 30, 1956, to the late Charles Gary Craft, Sr., and Phyllis Ann Craft. He was a graduate of the Lafayette High School Class of 1975. He worked in Maintenance for the Fayette County School System and then enjoyed thirteen years of Saturdays.
In addition to his wife of 33 years, Charlie is survived by one brother, Ron Craft, Lawrenceburg, Ky., his parents-in-law, Ray and Joyce Conley, Lexington, Ky., sisters-in-law Marlene (Jeff) Luoma, Lexington, Ky., and Regina Spurlock, Lexington, Ky., three nieces, Kristin Luoma, Lexington, Ky., Marissa Luoma, Carmel, Indiana, and Ashley (Zack) Newman, Lexington, Ky., grand niece, Lena Newman; and grand nephew, Jesse Newman, both of Lexington, and his four beloved cats, Angelle, Jackson, Cory Mac, and Oreo. A gathering of family and friends will be 1pm-3pm Sunday, September 15, 2024, at Clark Legacy Center-Brannon Crossing, followed by a celebration of life service at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Powell County Animal Shelter or the Alzheimer's Association.
