Lexington , Kentucky - Gordon Michael Stanley, known as Mike to his friends and family, passed away due to Alzheimer's on May 8, 2024 at the age of 79. Mike was born in Huntington, WV on June 28, 1944 but lived most of his life in Lexington, KY. He graduated from Lafayette High School and attended the University of Kentucky, EKU and served in the US Army Reserve.

Mike worked the first part of his career as a commercial loan officer and Assistant Vice President at First Security Bank. From there he became an entrepreneur owning and operating 17 different bars and restaurants in the state of Kentucky over the next 30 years, including some existing establishments like Columbia's and the Chevy Chase Inn, as well as new creations he developed like Brewbakers, Dockside, Spuds and AlleyOops.

In addition to his family, Mike's other great passion included spending time on his artwork. He was an incredible artist leaving behind treasured oil paintings and pen/ink drawings for his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mabel & Everett Stanley as well as two brothers Mark and Charles.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Tracey & Tommy McLarney, two grandchildren Brannon & Keegan McLarney, his ex-wife and friend Peggi Frazier, his brother Steve (Becky) Stanley and sister Peri Stanley and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service will be held for family as we celebrate his homecoming with Jesus. Any donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Mike's name. The family also wishes to extend special thanks to all of the amazing health care providers who assisted in Mike's final year of life, and offers prayers to those families struggling with dementia related illnesses.
