Evelyn Doris Doty (Ford) - Class Of 1944

Evelyn Doris Ford, 95, widow of Earl Weedman Ford, to whom she was married for 58 years, died Thursday November 25, 2021. Born on January 27, 1926 in Paris, KY, Doris was the daughter of the late Bryant and Beulah Quinn Doty. She attended Lafayette High School and the University of Kentucky. Doris worked for more than forty-five years with the America's Junior Miss Scholarship program where she served as State Chairman of Kentucky while living in Louisville. She then became one of twelve Regional Coordinators with the program overseeing the programs in Kentucky, Ohio, Virginia, West Virginia, Indiana and North Carolina. She traveled extensively while judging other state programs. She was a member of Lexington's First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, led a childrens Drama Group and assisted with a number of charitable groups such as the Room in the Inn homeless program. She was at one time, a member of the Captain John McKinley Chapter of the D.A.R. and the Lexington Woman's Club of Central Kentucky. She also was a member of the Pilgram Edward Doty Society of Massachusetts. Survivors include her daughter, Peggy Ford (Hunt) Ray; her son, Michael Earl Ford; a step-daughter, Kathy Ford Vale; three grandchildren, Teddy (Emily) Ray, Bryant Christopher (Caryn) Ray and Ashley (Elijah) Martin; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Brewer and Mary Carter; one brother, Bryant Douglas (Jackie) Doty and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Doris was preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Jean Feigel and a baby sister Bobby Mae Doty. Services will be held on Sunday November 28, 2021 at 11:00am at Kerr Bros.-Main St. Visitation will be 10am Sunday. Burial will be 11:00am Monday November 29, 2021 in the Paris Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Lexington Humane Society or the KY Young Woman of the Year Scholarship Fund.
