Mayfield hts., Ohio - RUTH E. SILK (nee Shane) age 77, passed away June 24, 2022, after a brief hospitalization. Born August 28, 1944, in Del Rio, TX. to James F. Shane, Jr. and Winnifred A. Jesseman, Ruth was raised in Lexington, KY where she became an acclaimed trombonist and lifelong UK Wildcats fan. After moving to Cleveland, Ruth worked for Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University; played trombone professionally with Cleveland orchestral and jazz groups; developed 250+ recipes designed for dietary restrictions of Crohn's disease, CHF, diabetes, etc.; volunteered as a patient visitor for the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation's Northern Ohio Chapter; and was a prolific genealogist. She earned her Associate of Applied Business degree in data processing from Cuyahoga Community College. Ruth is survived by husband Michael C. Silk; sons Christopher and Jim Dolwick; sister Paula Staudt (James); nephew Shawn and niece Rev. Shannon Cook (Bart Hanna); grandnephew Zachary Cook; as well as many nieces- and nephews-by-marriage.
