Roy Griggs

November 9, 1936 - March 25, 2024

Lexington, Kentucky - Roy Edwin Griggs, beloved father, grandfather and friend to many, passed away on March 25, 2024. He was 87 years old. Roy was born on November 9, 1936, in Lexington, Kentucky. His family moved to a country store in Lexington in his adolescence where he working during his school days, graduating from Lafayette High School and the University of Kentucky. He spent his career in finance working most of the time at the trucking company that started as Roadway Express, ending as Caliber Systems, Inc. He shared his love and enthusiasm for life with his family and friends without ceasing. He was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lexington, where he was a member of the choir. He loved the beauty of nature and music, and experienced that by playing the piano and raising his beautiful flowers. He is survived by his son Mark and wife Carrie, daughter Cynthia, and grandson Austin Vandergrift. Donations may be made to the University of Kentucky music scholarship fund, checks to UK Philanthropy, PO Box 910268, Lexington, Kentucky, 40591, with a note of instruction in the memo line. Services will be held at Kerr Brothers funeral home on Main Street, Friday, March 29, 2024 at 2 PM, with a reception following at Calvary Baptist Church.
