Wayne Mulcahy - Class Of 1953

Mr. Wayne Mulcahy, 88, of Nicholasville, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 21, 1935, in Lexington to the late Curtis and Allene Davis Mulcahy. Wayne graduated from Lafayette High School in Lexington and went on to serve his country with honor and dedication in the United States Air Force for 20 years, from 1954 to 1974, including combat service during the Vietnam War. He achieved the rank of Senior Master Sergeant and exemplified unwavering commitment to both his nation and his faith. After retiring from military service, Wayne enjoyed a successful 34-year career as the Shop Foreman for Eagle Window Sales. He was recognized for his outstanding contributions to his community and was honored with the title of Kentucky Colonel by the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Wayne was a devoted member of Southland Christian Church and the Freemasons at Hart Lodge #61 F&AM in Nicholasville, KY. He held strong beliefs in loyalty, integrity, and the pursuit of the highest standards. Wayne is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Sylvia Mullins Mulcahy, and his three cherished daughters: Marty Ledford (Doug), Terry Woods (Gary), and Lisa Anestis (Manny). He was a loving brother to Pauline (Everette), a devoted grandfather to Morgan, Adam, Haley, Hope, Michael, Mason, and Matt, and a proud great-grandfather to Canaan, Lindsey, Levi, Logan, Corbin, Brayden, Lilian, Robin, and Woods. Wayne's kindness knew no bounds; he never met a stranger and considered his friends as cherished as family. His legacy of generosity and compassion will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, from 5-8 PM, with Masonic Rites to be rendered at 7 PM at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home- Harrodsburg Road. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 4th, 2023, at 12:30 PM at the funeral home, followed by burial with full military honors at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. There will be a reception and celebration of life at Churchill Crossing Clubhouse in Nicholasville Immediately following the burial.
