Phyllis Kerns (Cornish) - Class Of 1956

Phyllis Cornish Phyllis Cornish, age 83, passed away on April 10th, 2023 after a lengthy illness. Phyllis was born on September 3rd 1939 to Mabel and David Kerns. She lived in Lexington Ky for most of her life, graduating from Lafayette High School in 1956. She then met and married the love of her life, Kenneth Cornish, at Scotties skating rink.  From that moment on they shared a deep love and devotion to each other for 65 years.

Phyllis worked at Seaboard Financial Services until the time she and Kenneth started their family and raised 2 daughters, Kendra Foreman and Stephanie Songer (preceded in death). 

Phyllis loved her children and grandchildren Andrew and Evan Foreman very much. She was affectionately known as “GranGran”.

Phyllis had a strong Christian faith and was a member of Southern Heights Baptist Church for 46 years, and shared a deep bond with her dear friends from there for many years.

Phyllis loved playing cards and games with friends and family and working puzzles. She was a wonderful homemaker. She was beautiful inside and out. Her smile would light up the room. She lived a beautiful life and we were blessed to have her in our lives. 

Visitation for Phyllis will be Monday, April 17th from 10:30 am until 12:30 pm at Milward – Southland located at 391 Southland Drive. Service will begin at 12:30 pm with Bill Boldt officiating and interment will follow in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens in Nicholasville.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army.
