William E. Johnson Jr.

William Evan Johnson, Jr., known by “Buddy” to all of his family and friends, passed away on January 6, 2022 surrounded by loved ones after a long and courageous fight with complications from end stage renal disease.

Born to William E. Johnson, Sr and Jane Penelope Johnson (Penny) on 8/19/1959 in Lexington, KY, Buddy was born and raised in Lexington and a graduate of Lafayette High School.

Buddy earned a Bachelor’s degree in music and psychology at Georgetown College and then later went on to earn his Juris Doctorate from the University of Kentucky College of Law. Buddy was a successful trial lawyer and operated his own law firm for many years. Buddy loved to sing, enjoy good food, and watch University of Kentucky sports games. 

Buddy was preceded in death by his father Willie and his brother Dennis. He is survived by his wife Juliet, his mother Penny, his brother Robert (Jonathan Thompson), his daughter April Holman (Rob), his son Christian Johnson , two grandsons Asher and Ezra Holman, and his former step-daughter Tiffany Thomas.

Buddy loved his family and was a loyal friend to so many. He cherished his grandsons Asher and Ezra more than anything in the world.
