Donald Joseph Fister

Donald Joseph Fister, 92, of Lexington, KY passed away on Monday, August 9, 2021. Don was born on September 29, 1928 in Fayette County, KY to the late William Marion and Elizabeth Decker Fister.

Don graduated from Lafayette High School before serving his country during the Korean War in the United States Army. He worked on the family farms until retiring. Don was a member of Mary, Queen of the Holy Rosary Church.

On June 18, 1955, Don married Mary Ann McLafferty and celebrated 25 years together before her passing in 1981.  On January 3, 1987, he married Rosemary Egalite Fox, and celebrated 28 years together before her passing in 2015.  Don was also preceded in death by four brothers J.W., Richard, Robert, Daniel, and two sisters, Elizabeth and Margaret Ann.

Don is survived by his five children:  Donald (Nancy) Fister, Jr., Kathleen (Greg) Carpenter, Susan (Mark) Batts, Lisa (Greg) Adams, and James (Shawn) Fister and five step-children:  Charles (Joan) Fox, Stephen Fox, Jeanne (John) Hurak, Eugene (Cindy) Fox, and Katherine (Thomas) Mattingly, twenty-three grandchildren:  Ashley, Jessica, Christina, Scott, Nathan, Andy, Tom, Britany, Georgi, Shelby, Chris, Andy, Erin, Maura, Lauren, Ryan, Kate, Leslie, Christa, Michael, Emily, Rose, Evan, seventeen great-grandchildren:  Rosie, Simon, Jacob, Abby, Charlotte, Sophia, Preston, Parker, Pierce, Ethan, Nicholas, Michael, Peyton, James, Camden, Emery, Brady.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank his caregivers, Kim Jent and Deborah Gaines for their dedication and loving care.

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 15th,from 5-8 pm at Milward-Southland located at 391 Southland Drive. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, August 16th, at 11:00 am at Mary, Queen of the Holy Rosary Church, followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery.
