
Rev. William G. "Bill" Humphrey, 93, passed away on February 23, 2025 at Highlandspring of Fort Thomas. Bill was born in Lexington, Kentucky on November 17, 1931 to James Ellison and Ellen (Soder) Humphrey. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty (Walker) Humphrey, brother Jim Humphrey, Jr. and great-grandson Walker Hogue. He is survived by his daughters Donna (Bruce) Moore and Cindy (David) Hammerstrom, son Bob Humphrey, grandchildren Katie Moore, Betsy (Matt) Stith, Kaileigh (Mark) Kinkoph, Sarah (Jason) Loreaux, David (Kayla) Hogue, Sari Hammerstrom, Grace (Nick) Steinmetz and Olivia Humphrey, and great-grandchildren Lorelei, Wyatt and Bear Stith; Greyson and Madelyn Loreaux; and Sophie Hogue.
After being called to the ministry, he was licensed and ordained by Calvary Baptist Church, Lexington, his home church. He served in eight churches during his ministry: Clear Fork Baptist, Old Cambridge Baptist, First Baptist of Inez, Lancaster Baptist, Elk Lick Baptist, Highland Hills Baptist, First Baptist Church of Cold Spring, and Christ Baptist Church.
He was a graduate of Lafayette High School and the University of Kentucky and earned two post-graduate degrees from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Bill was an avid UK fan having season basketball tickets for a number of years. He was proud to have been an Eagle Scout and a scoutmaster. He also enjoyed nature while teaching his children to identify birds, trees, and stars. He earned the distinction of Master Gardener while enjoying canning and preserving his home-grown vegetables each year. He loved to travel having visited 47 states and 40 foreign countries. He also enjoyed golfing, bicycling, and softball.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Christ Baptist Church in Cold Spring. Funeral Ceremony will follow at 10:00 am. Burial will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Park 2089 Versailles Rd, Lexington, Kentucky 40504.
