Earl "Tony" Dillender - Class Of 1949

Earl Tony DillenderEarl “Tony” Dillender of Lexington, Kentucky, died peacefully in his sleep on Friday, January 6, 2022 at age 91.

Tony was born on September 26, 1931 to the late Byron and Blanche Dillender.  He graduated from Lafayette High School, then served in the US Marines as a Military Policeman during the Korean War in North Carolina.  Upon returning to Lexington, he trained as an instrument maker under Dr. K.O. Lange for 4 years.  He then worked as a Machinist/Engineering Technician, retiring from University of Kentucky Bio Med Lab after 40 years of service.  Since 1995, he spent his golden years watching UK sports, the Cincinnati Reds, making fishing gear parts and attending fishing lure shows all over the region.  He loved to make anything anyone needed and enjoyed the challenge.  He made parts for people all over the country and was known for his unmatched quality of workmanship.  He was also a member and former deacon at Maxwell Street Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha (Campbell) Dillender and his brother, Karl Dillender.  He is survived by his only son, Stuart Dillender (Deanna), Lexington and two grandchildren, Jack Dillender, Los Angeles, CA, and Katie Dillender, Lexington.

A private family service will be held.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
