Nicholasville, Kentucky - Charles Allan (Al) Leonard, a long-time resident of Lexington, died Saturday, November 6th, at the age of 92. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late Laurel E. Leonard and Viola Mae Valentine Leonard. While he was raised in Georgetown, KY, he was a graduate of Lafayette High School in Lexington and served in two branches of the military. He worked in construction for many years and, in retirement, became an owner/operator in the trucking industry. He was a devoted family man and provider with a generous heart and a witty sense of humor.
He is survived by his children, Linda Bradley of Chatsworth, CA; Bryan (Lesa) Leonard of Bothell, WA; and Mark Leonard of Nicholasville, KY; brother, Roger Leonard; 15 grandchildren, Michelle, Chase and Nathan Wills, Phillip (Jennifer) Leonard, Erika (Matt) Bledsoe, Justin (Amber) Monthie, Nicole (Thayer) Bryant, Erin Bradley, Matthew (Lindsay) Bradley, William Bradley, Tabitha (Craig) Monson, Abigail Leonard, Lindsay Leonard, Brittany (Michael) Kidwell, Mark Leonard, Jr. and, two step-grandchildren, Shawn and Sydney Scott; 14 great grandchildren; 4 nephews and 3 nieces; and, 4 step-children Gloria (Breck) Johnson, Tina Elliott, Tammy (Thad) Scott, and Roger E. Fathergill.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Joyce Marie Petty Leonard, and Betty Jean Estes Leonard; three daughters, Cynthia Wills, Donna Leonard, and Kim Monthie; a sister, JoAnn McGarry; a niece, Laurel McGarry; and, a grandson, Jordan Monthie.
Funeral Arrangements: A graveside service will be held Friday, November 12th, at 11:00 a.m. at Lexington Cemetery. A celebration of life open house will follow at the home of Mark Leonard, 101 Hubbard Court, Nicholasville, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
