Valerie(Cookie) Elizabeth Bent Cushing passed away peacefully at home on January 8, 2020.  She was born in Beckley, W. VA, and was a 1966 graduate of Lafayette HS.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Janice Bent Broughman & Jack Bent, as well as a brother, Lawrence Edward Bent.  She was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church, Lynchburg, TN until returning to her home town of Lexington in 2016 where she attended The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, Nicholasville, KY.  She is survived by brothers Jack Randall Bent, Bradley Broughman, William Bent, Jeff Bent (Ava) of R.I.  Sandy Broughman, III (Pam) of Lexington, and a sister, Barbara Bent Guilbault (Paul) of MA.    Valerie has been blessed with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, 3220 Lexington Road, Nicholasville, Ky.  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Lexington Humane Society, 1600 Old Frankfort Pike, Lexington, KY 40504.
