Carrie Botkin - Class Of 1944

BOTKIN Carrie Hubbard, 92, of Lexington, KY passed away Friday, May 5, 2017, at St. Joseph Hospital. She was born in Lexington, KY on May 15, 1926. Carrie graduated from Lafayette High School in 1944 and married her high school sweetheart Robert H. Botkin in 1946. Robert passed away in Dec 2013. After graduating from Red Cross training during World War II she volunteered as a nurses aid and after the war began work at the Lex Bluegrass Army Depot. She graduated from multiple army schools throughout the U.S. and retired after 36 successful years from the Army Depot. Carrie is survived by two sons, John Robert Botkin (Linda) of Sarasota, FL and Michael Taylor Botkin (Debbie) of Tupelo, MS. Grandchildren Geoffrey Robert Botkin (Sherri) of Campbellsville, KY, Taylor Robert Botkin and Alexandra Patricia Botkin of Lexington, KY. Great grandchildren Callie Diane Botkin and Sarah Ann Botkin of Campbellsville, KY. She was a charter member of Lafayette Christian Church. Carrie's passion was always her family but sports ran a close second. She loved watching both her sons play baseball and basketball and always had a scorebook in hand keeping stats for the team. She was thankful she got to see her Cubbies win the 2016 World Series. Affectionately known to family as Grammie, she will be greatly missed by family and all who knew her. Funeral will be Wed, May 10th at Milward-Southland. Visitation will begin at 11:30am, service to follow at 1pm and burial will be at Lexington Cemetery. David Wu will officiate the ceremony. Pallbearers will be Geoff Botkin, Taylor Botkin, Alex Botkin, Callie Botkin, Sarah Botkin, and Ralph Durbin. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity
