Clinton Thomas (Harley) Sherrod - Class Of 1949

Clinton Thomas (Harley) Sherrod Clinton Thomas (Hardley) Sherrod, born April 22, 1931, son of Lewis and Virginia Sherrod, husband of Sara Wells Sherrod, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side Monday, March 6, 2023. He was preceded in death by his brothers Richard and Lewis Sherrod. 

Clint graduated in 1949 from Lafayette High School where he played baseball and basketball. In June of 1952 he married Sara, his faithful wife of 70 years. He served in the Army from 1951-53 as a cryptographer in the Army Security Agency, stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. Upon returning home, he joined his brothers Richard and Lewis at Sherrod Sign Company where he worked until retirement. 

An avid fisherman and charter member of B.A.S.S., he taught the love of fishing to three generations of family. He also enjoyed using his God given artistic talent drawing and painting many beautiful works of art, which were admired by all. Clint was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who always put God and family first. He leaves a legacy of hard work, kindness, faith, honesty and patience and will forever be loved and missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife Sara, brother Shelby Sherrod and children Carrie (Mike – deceased) Creech, Dianne (Mark) Borchers, Donna (Roger) Finnie and Martin (Debbie) Sherrod. Grandchildren Wayne (Jamie) White, Johnny (Katy) White, Michelle (Josh) McDonald, Natalie Sherrod, Ashley (Luke) Alford, Sara (Paul) Scherbak, Jon Finnie and Michael Finnie. Great grandchildren Brice White, Brady White, Daisy White, Summer White, Aubree Alford, Mason Alford, Max McDonald and John William Scherbak. Nephews Richard Sherrod, Tom Sherrod, Robin Sherrod, Daniel Sherrod, Michael Sherrod (deceased), Jonathan Sherrod and Zachary Sherrod. Nieces Jenny Neat, Janet Stevens, Carma Sherrod, Susan Alexander, Molly Sherrod, Bobbi Browning, Leslie Wells and Beth Bull.

Visitation for family and friends will be Monday, March 13, from 11:00am to 1:00pm and memorial service at 1:00pm  with Pastor Ben Cordes officiating at Milward Funeral Directors on Southland Drive. Burial to follow at Blue Grass Memorial Gardens on Harrodsburg Rd.

Pallbearers will be Wayne White, Johnny White, Mark Borchers, Luke Alford, Josh McDonald and Brady White.
