Marie Hisel (Eades) - Class Of 1944



EADES, MARIE HISEL, 92, went to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 20, 2018 in Lexington, KY. Born July 29, 1926, in Athens, KY, she was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas G. and Emma H. Hisel, and her brothers and sisters, Eugene Hisel, Joseph Hisel, Geneva Hisel Robinson, Martha Hisel Penrod and son-in-law, David Bradley. Mrs. Eades attended schools in Athens and was a graduate of the Lafayette High School class of 1944. Employed by the Fayette County School System for over 40 years, Mrs. Eades served as secretary to the principal at Linlee Elementary and Jesse Clark Middle School. During that time, Mrs. Eades served as President of the Central Kentucky Educational Secretaries Association and led the group to host several conferences. A member of Broadway Christian Church for 71 years, Mrs. Eades served as the President of the Woman's Department, the Rebekah Circle, and sang in the church choir. Mrs. Eades was well known to the congregation as a Sunday School teacher having taught initially in the Junior Department and then teaching the Auditorium Class and the Friendship Class. For the past 43 years, she taught the Encouragers Class until she was 90 years old. Mrs. Eades was married in 1944 to Erbert B. Eades in Columbia, SC where he was stationed with the Army. As soon as World War II was over, Mrs. Eades sailed on the first ship for war brides to go to Germany to join her husband and they lived in Wiesbaden, Germany for two years before returning to the United States.

Mrs. Eades is survived by three daughters, Ellen Eades Fore, Lexington, KY, Linda Eades Bradley, Columbia, MO, and Dianne Eades Stephens (Sam), Rome, GA. A very dedicated mother and grandmother, Mrs. Eades, known to her children as "Granny E," traveled often to visit her 8 grandchildren, Robyn Fore, Jennifer Palmer (Craig), Jon Mark Fore (Leah), Brandon Bradley (Eleanor), Dara Booth (Seneca), Ben Bradley (Rachel), Gaile Stephens, and Anne Marie Mitchell (Chip), and 15 soon to be 16 great-grandchildren, Kale, Macey, and Sydney Palmer, Michaela and Caleb Bradley, Jireh and Ajua Booth, Payton and Madison Bradley, Mikayla, Natalie, and Emmalee Dace, and Raleigh, Sam and Luke Mitchell. Jack and Ann Cochran, Lexington, KY are her adopted children. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their thanks to the staff of the Willows at Hamburg for the kind and loving care of their mother.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, December 29th, at 12:30 pm at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Harrodsburg Road with Pastor Craig Yates presiding. Visitation will start at 10:30 am. Marie always recognized her honorary church children, the Encouragers Sunday School Class of Broadway Christian Church, and they will be seated with the family at the service.
