Thomas BorgBORG Thomas D., Sr., 69, husband of Judy Bond Borg, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016 at the Hospice Care Center. Tom was born March 7, 1946 in Poughkeepsie, NY, the son of Anne Borg of Orange City, FL and the late Arthur Borg. Tom and his parents moved to Lexington in 1957. He was very active in Lafayette High School where he graduated in 1964. He continued his education, receiving his MBA from Xavier University and his BBA from the University of Kentucky. Tom loved playing football and track at Lafayette. He was named to the High School Prep All American Team and was an All State Football player for Kentucky. In 1963, Tom was also part of Lafayette's State Championship Track Team. He received over 40 football and track scholarship offers including Senator John Sherman Cooper Appointment to West Point. Tom served six years in the Army National Guard. He retired in 1996 from IBM sales and had previously founded Pro Connect, Inc. in 1993, retiring in 2000. He held the position as Branch Manager for Copy Corporation and had been a loan officer at Kentucky Mortgage from 2001-2011. He was a Kentucky Colonel. He was an avid golfer, loved water, boating, and the beach. He was a member of Spring Valley Country Club and also Naples Lake County Club in Naples, FL, where he and Judy owned a home. He also had a tremendous love of music. Many remember being entertained by his band, "The Classics", where Tom was lead singer and later by Tom's solo guitar gig at various venues, including his favorite, Merrick Inn. Besides playing guitar and singing, Tom pursued learning to play piano after he retired. Survivors other than his wife include a son, Thomas Daniel Borg, Jr., Portland, OR; three daughters, Dr. Laura Borg (Andrew) Scott, Baltimore, MD, Sara Kirsten Borg, Lexington, KY and Jill Goldberg (Christopher) Gerlach, Atlanta, GA; one grandson, Oliver Borg; four granddaughters, Logan Borg, Allison Viney, Stephanie Gerlach, and Kaitlyn Carr, whom he raised and considered a daughter; and one brother, Barry (Joyce) Borg, Orange City, FL. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Amie Eggerts. A Memorial Service will be held 4 pm Thur., March 3, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd. by Minister Griff Ray. Visitation will be held 2pm Thur. until the service time. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Anderson, Jerry Bond, Tommy Booth, Dan Borg, Ray Chapman, Roy Crouch, Chris Gerlach, Jeff Hinchcliffe, Charlie Mahalik, John Mann, Bruce Pieratt, John Wardle, and Bob Young. -
