BUNNELL, David B. Dave, 65, beloved husband of 40 years to Patricia Gorham Bunnell Patsy, passed away Thurs. Apr. 4, 2013. Born on July 14, 1947, he was the son of the late George D. Bunnell. Dave graduated from Lafayette H.S. in 1965, the University of Kentucky in 1970 and received a masters and rank 1 from Eastern Kentucky University. He taught and coached football, wrestling, and swimming/diving at Tates Creek H.S. for 28 years. He was the 8th District Council member on the Lexington Fayette Urban County Council from 1982 to 1993 and during his tenure he was council parliamentarian, chairman of the Services and Planning committees, board member on the Lexington Center and Sisters Cities Corporations. He was a board member on the Kentucky Golf Association for 20 years and became President of both the KGA and KGA-PGA Inc. He received the KGAs J.W. Janes Award and the KPGAs Presidents Award. Recently, he was inducted into the Kentucky Golf Hall of Fame. Nationally, he was general chairman of the 1997 United States Amateur Public Links Championship at his beloved Kearney Hill Golf Links and later served as USGAs committee member for Kentucky for U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship for 10 years. Locally, he founded The Larry Gilbert, Dave Bunnell//First Tee of Lexington and served as executive director for the past 20 years. Dave is survived by his mother, Gene Crawford Bunnell, aunt, Jody Atkins, wife, Patsy, three children, David Bo Jr. (Siri) Bunnell, B. Todd (Kristin) Bunnell, and Kate Bunnell (Brad) McLean. Later in life Patsy and Dave welcomed 5 grandchildren, Leah Kathryn, Kal David, Luke Jolin, Brooke Evelyn and Brandt Crawford; plus grand dog Oscar. Visitation will be 4-8 pm Fri. at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd. Funeral services will be 9:30 am Sat. at Pax Christi Catholic Church, 4001 Victoria Way, Lexington, KY 40515, with burial following at Calvary Cemetery.
